Gary Carter and Mark Chatterton

When Wishbone Ash celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2000, Fire Fly Publications in association with Helter Skelter books commemorated this occasion with the publication of the definitive history of Wishbone Ash.

Compiled by leading Wishbone Ash archivists Gary Carter and Mark Chatterton with full co-operation from most of the bands’ key members, "Blowin’ Free - Thirty Years of Wishbone Ash" traces the history of one of rock music’s best loved and most enduring bands, from their humble beginnings in the west of England, through their seventies commercial peak, and taking the story right up to the new millenium and the band’s thirtieth anniversary celebrations. Utilising unprecedented access to band members and associates, "Blowin’ Free" gives a unique inner view of the band’s career and puts to rest the rumours and inaccuracies found in previous publications.

"Blowin’ Free" tells the Wishbone Ash story with the aid of contemporary and archive quotes from all the various members of the band - past and present - as well as many of their close associates. Included are exclusive new interviews conducted especially for this book.
